“This is, quite simply, a great book”. These were the first words written in a review by Ralph Lewis, a highly respected leadership consultant, regularly counselled by such organisations as Goldman Sachs, Barclays Bank, DfID and Unilever, after reading James Maberly’s new book ‘Why Follow Rules?’.

He goes on: “The title of the book and its subtitle say it all "Why Follow Rules?" Why indeed if you want to live the life you are meant to live and make the most of your potential. I recommend this book very highly - unlike many leadership books it speaks to the reader's own aspirations and offers a way forward. James also quotes Lao Tse on leadership, one of my favourites.”

Maberly believes that most of us are stuck in a rut. “Why do we all follow rules and organised systems so blindly and so willingly? Why do so many of us draw our sense of worth from the opinions of others and why do we ignore the most important resource we will ever have: our intuition?”

Through a series of eight questions, he invites readers to consider these points carefully and to recognise and embrace the wisdom of their intuition. He includes interviews with four people who are by nature very intuitive, including multi-millionaire businessman Scott Russell, business Person of the Year in the 2011 Anglian Business Awards.

Maberly was brought up in Zimbabwe and over the years has travelled back regularly. He has been shocked, in recent years, at how little hope young people there have for their futures. Most have never known anything else other than the dictatorial rule of Robert Mugabe. Maberly aims to distribute 1000 copies of this new book to young people out there to encourage them to think beyond their current existence. 10% of all profits from sales of this book will go towards ensuring this book reaches those youngsters who need it via the charity the Zimbabwe Agricultural Welfare Trust.  By buying this book, you will be contributing towards the further distribution of this book to young people in Zimbabwe and other nations where young people live under oppressive regimes.

Maberly is an excellent speaker and regularly gives talks about his book, his art and his work in Zimbabwe. Contact him on james (at) cultivating-intuition.com to make arrangements as necessary.
